International Women’s Day – March 2017

The Women’s Centre celebrated International Women’s Day (IWD) on the 8th of March, with a display at Lavington Square Shopping Centre. Susie and Ellen woman-ed the table, and were thrilled to see so many shoppers stop by for information about the Women’s Centre, to pick up a goodie bag, balloon, or some delicious treats, as well as chat about this year’s IWD theme #BeBoldForChange.

WomansIntDay80317International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

We were lucky enough to get some great donations and sponsorship from various businesses, and would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Lavington Vicinity Centre (centre management) for the space and support, Woolworths Lavington for providing treats, Chemist Warehouse Albury, Terry White Lavington and Big W Lavington for gorgeous products for our goodie bags, Bakers Delight Lavington for hot cross buns and vouchers, and Kiddiewinks Early Learning & Care Centre for a delicious vegetable platter.

This year’s theme is #BeBoldForChange.

Open Day 2016

The Women's Centre held an open day on Tuesday 14th June 2016.

We had over 20 women attend to find out what we do and provide us valuable feedback and input into the Women's Centre services.

During the open day we held a special morning tea, where we had 3 members from the Rotary Club Albury come and presented a very generous cheque to support the Women's Centre NILS program. We thank the Rotary Club of Albury for their support to the Women's Centre.

This is not the first time the Rotary Club of Albury has supported the Women's Centre, last year they provided funding to establish our beautiful community garden which is full of fresh produce for all women in our community to enjoy.

The Open Day was a great success and was lovely to see women pop in and enjoy a cuppa or a delicious homemade soup on what was a cold wintery day!
