Rape & Domestic Violence Services Australia

Trauma counselling for women who have experienced childhood sexual assault.

This is a service of Rape & Domestic Violence Services Australia in partnership with Women’s Health Centres.

Just because sexual assault happened in childhood does not necessarily mean recovery is any easier. In fact, sexual assault that takes place during childhood can have significant long lasting effects on adult survivors.

Adults who were sexually assaulted as children can experience difficulties in their social and interpersonal life. They can struggle with trust, self-esteem, intimacy and sexuality. Some will develop depression, anxiety and eating disorders, and may engage in suicidal behaviour and substance abuse.

The counsellor at the Women’s Centre is fully qualified and trained, working within the best practice trauma-based therapeutic model.

The Women’s Centre for Health and Wellbeing Albury-Wodonga provides confidential, supportive services for women, free of charge in a women-only space.
