While the announcement of $925m over 5 years for the Leaving Home Violence program for those who are escaping Domestic Violence is welcome, it’s important to note this is an extension to an already existing Escaping Violence Program. What the announcement means is that this program will extend past the initial planned end date of January 2025 for a further 5 years. It is disappointing not to see funding being allocated to on-the-ground to support, which, as Professor Hurley says is so vital. The Women’s Centre for Health and Wellbeing (Albury Wodonga) will continue to advocate for further investment into on-the-ground support for our region.www.instagram.com/reel/C6XxlMmxwpU/?igsh=MTVwNzE0Z2h1emgxNw==If you or someone you know needs help please call - 000 if it is an emergencey, 1800 RESPECT, Lifeline 13 13 14.
